NEW EXPERIMENT / RESULT

I spent the last night outside to watch the moon with the SETUP described before. It took me some time to set everything up and I nearly took 300 shots to get 20 more ore less good pictures. But I think they are pretty good for the first try. You’ll find the results below, click the pictures to enlarge them.

Actually I know that what I did is kind of amateurish, so these are the next steps to improve things: there is open source software available that allows you to take a series of pictures or a video and correlate them. This should give excellent results. Furthermore I’ll try to improve the cam housing.

To get an impression how quickly the moon passes the lens watch the video below:

DIRT RIDE

That’s exactly how I like it! We had rain this morning, which isn’t really remarkable because I live in Northern Germany. But I badly wanted to take a ride with my bike. So I put aside my worries and saddled my mountain bike. I took a tour on my favourite trails which had got wet and muddy over the last night. Lovely! So I really enjoyed my ride though I got wet from time to time. Afterwards I myself was covered all over with mud.

NEW EXPERIMENT

I think I’ll try another experiment and get my refraction telescope from the garret this weekend. Furthermore I’ll try to attach my webcam to it and take some digital photos of the moon. That’s what I actually want to test since a long time. I’m more than interested if this would work. I’ll keep you updated on the results…

DIET PLAN

Though I don’t really have a weight problem I don’t like the idea of stuffing snacks and sweets into my body uncontrolled. This leads to the consumption of additional, unnecessary calories. That’s the reason why a friend and I invented a simple “diet plan”. It works like this: you’d get 3 so called smiley cards per week. Each of them could be exchanged against a piece of sweets or a snack (the amount should be fair: approx 80g of chocolate or a comparable amount of a snack). This means that you are allowed to eat these nice things 3 times per week. If you eat more, you’ll get one of the so called skull cards per piece. The reset is once per week. You’ll get 3 new smiley cards and the skull cards will be set to nill again. Then you have to decide on your personal scarify. For each of the skull cards you have to do something that hurts. We decided for additional waist workouts at the gym.
Of course the amounts and time frames are adaptable. We discovered that this habit works very well. At least you’d get an impression of the amount of “forbidden stuff” you eat.

If you’re interested in the template, I could send it to you. Simply leave me a comment.

RAIN DRIVE

I had a late meeting in HAMBURG last week so I did leave work lately, that day. What one normally would expect is that you start driving during daylight and when you arrive home that it possibly got dark. But this time it was the way round, as I started my ride it was pitch dark in terms of having huge thunder clouds. The more I got north the more the sky cleared up. At the end I saw the sun  . It was a great ride with brilliant sky scenes.

NO MOUNTAIN TRAILS II

I did some further trials with the oregon action cam, and I have to say it’s really nice. This time I inserted a 2GB SD card, with that you can record up to 1h at 30 frames per second and a resolution of 640x480. That’s enough from my point of view.
