JOTUNHEIMEN FAZIT

JOTUNHEIMEN war aus unserer Sicht ein voller Erfolg. Wir haben nicht alle Ecken gesehen, die wir wollten, das tut dem Ganzen aber keinen Abbruch sondern lädt ein zum Wiederkommen.
Der Nationalpark JOTUNHEIMEN ist einfach schön. Er ist zwar relativ schroff, aber gerade das macht auch seine Schönheit aus. Das Wechselspiel aus Bergen, Flüssen, Gletschern, wundervollen Pässen und einsamen Tälern ist traumhaft.

Ende August ist noch eine gute Zeit zu reisen. Man merkt schon deutlich, dass nicht mehr so viel Verkehr ist wie im Sommer, aber das fanden wir aber gerade gut. Das Wetter war aus unserer Sicht jedoch teilweise instabil. Zusammen mit den schon kühlen Temperaturen könnte das interessant werden. Die Idee in einem hochgelegenem Camp vom Schnee überrascht zu werden ist nicht wirklich reizvoll. Ansonsten war es aber wirklich okay.

Wir hatten uns bewusst entschlossen die Hütteninfrastruktur nicht zu nutzen. Wir wollten wissen, wie es ist eine komplette Woche draußen und unter Selbstverpflegung zu verbringen. Es hat sich gelohnt. Unsere Planung war richtig, wir kamen mit allem hin und es hat Spaß gemacht direkt in der Natur zu wohnen. Der Nachteil ist, dass einen das Gepäck bremst. Die meisten Stundenangaben der Routen haben wir um Längen gerissen. Wir würden es trotzdem wieder so machen.

Direkt nach dem Antritt der Heimreise war uns klar: wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen!


For us JOTUNHEIMEN was a big success. We haven’t seen everything we wanted but that’s just the open invitation to come back one day.
The national park JOTUNHEIMEN is simply beautiful. It’s relatively rocky and without much trees but that’s exactly what makes it that nice. The difference between mountains, lakes, glaciers, wonderful passages and ridges and lone valleys is amazing.

End of August is still a good time to have such a trip done. There aren’t that much people anymore and that’s what we where looking for. The weather maybe an issue, at that time of the year, it can be unstable. Combined with the low temperature the idea of being confronted with snow isn’t that nice. But for most of the time it was okay.

We decided to not use the infrastructure of the lodges. We wanted to experience how it might be living in the nature. Our planning was good, we did not miss a thing. The only disadvantage of doing things that way is that the luggage and weight will slow you down. All the figures in terms of needed hours from A to B within the map where too low for us. But we would do again in that way.

Shortly after we were departing from Gjendesheim it was clear to us: we definitely would come back!
