RUNKEEPER

I was testing the RUNKEEPER App today. It works pretty well for tracking your sports activities. But what I do like the most is the easy handling. Furthermore runkeeper has a nice webportal to upload and share (if wanted) your workout. It's capable of not only storing the GPS signal but also the heartrate, weight and some more stuff.

I like it.

WAITING FOR MY SINGLESPEED

While I’m waiting for my singlespeed bike to be finished I’m simply dreaming of it.

Solange ich auf mein Singlespeed Bike warte, träume ich schon mal davon.

SINGLE SPEED BIKE

It’s gone. I left my bike in the garage a couple of days ago. It’ll take 4-6 weeks than I’ll get it back. The following items and parts will be changed: completely refurbished frame; new bar; new brakes; new single speed crank, including new bearing; single speed chain ring; new chain; new tires. I’m more than excited to get it back and take the first ride.

What can be better than having a ride with the mountainbike shortly after the rain had stopped?

SAILING

It is the last weekend of the Kiel Week. According to that we had a fun sailing regatta in our club today. The weather was nice and even more interesting than that: the wind was strong. It was fun being out there!

ALL MOUNTAIN - ALL SEASON

That’s exactly why I decided to get a mountain bike a few years ago. Because it’s not only preparing you for several territories, it as well allows one to extend the riding season. It was cold today, a couple of degrees Celsius below zero, but the sun came out, and this together with the will to test my new OREGON SCIENTIFIC ACTION CAM ATC5000 made me actually get out. So I rode my GHOST AMR 9000 trough the winter and loved it. I missed it.

The new action cam is actually very nice. It comes along with a small display and a much better CCD chip which improves the quality significantly.

ANOTHER RIDE

I tested the action cam down at the chain stay today, which gave some good scenes. I just added them to my FORMER MOVIE as you can see below.

GHOST AMR 9000

It’s the 3rd season since I bought my GHOST amr 9000 mountain bike. It’s time to look at the conclusion. First of all this bike was constructed to be an all mountain bike, so it resides somewhere between a tour- and downhill bike. If that’s what one is looking for it would be the right choice, because it perfectly fits this domain. I’m not the best driver and still make mistakes, nonetheless this bike was unbreakable. It’s an easy to ride, tough even though sensible bike that takes nearly every terrain that doesn’t match the downhill category.

Under the line I had:
- a relative small investment
- no serious outage or defect
- few maintenance hours
- fun!

I simply can recommend it.

DIRT RIDE

That’s exactly how I like it! We had rain this morning, which isn’t really remarkable because I live in Northern Germany. But I badly wanted to take a ride with my bike. So I put aside my worries and saddled my mountain bike. I took a tour on my favourite trails which had got wet and muddy over the last night. Lovely! So I really enjoyed my ride though I got wet from time to time. Afterwards I myself was covered all over with mud.

DIET PLAN

Though I don’t really have a weight problem I don’t like the idea of stuffing snacks and sweets into my body uncontrolled. This leads to the consumption of additional, unnecessary calories. That’s the reason why a friend and I invented a simple “diet plan”. It works like this: you’d get 3 so called smiley cards per week. Each of them could be exchanged against a piece of sweets or a snack (the amount should be fair: approx 80g of chocolate or a comparable amount of a snack). This means that you are allowed to eat these nice things 3 times per week. If you eat more, you’ll get one of the so called skull cards per piece. The reset is once per week. You’ll get 3 new smiley cards and the skull cards will be set to nill again. Then you have to decide on your personal scarify. For each of the skull cards you have to do something that hurts. We decided for additional waist workouts at the gym.
Of course the amounts and time frames are adaptable. We discovered that this habit works very well. At least you’d get an impression of the amount of “forbidden stuff” you eat.

If you’re interested in the template, I could send it to you. Simply leave me a comment.

NO MOUNTAIN TRAILS II

I did some further trials with the oregon action cam, and I have to say it’s really nice. This time I inserted a 2GB SD card, with that you can record up to 1h at 30 frames per second and a resolution of 640x480. That’s enough from my point of view.

NO MOUNTAIN TRAILS

I don’t really care that I got no high mountains nearby. As long as I’ll find some dirt trails I’m fine with that. Today I tried my new OREGON ACTION CAM. It’s nice. It is 3m waterproof and comes along with a substantial mount kit. Beyond that it runs with standard rechargeable batteries. The video (it also records audio) format is *.avi with up to 30 frames per second and a resolution of 640x480. Find the result below:

SPRING!

It’s getting warmer in Germany and that’s good. It’s good because the bike season gets nicer from day to day. I had been out for a ride with my bike recently and it made big fun. Though it was kind of muddy in the forest it was an exiting tour.
